What is SDVOSB certification?
SDVOSB certification confirms a small business is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more veterans with a service-connected disability. Since 2023 it is issued by SBA through VetCert, and certification is required to compete for SDVOSB set-aside and sole-source contracts across federal agencies.
Who qualifies
A small business under its NAICS size standard, at least 51% unconditionally owned by one or more service-disabled veterans, whose management and daily operations are controlled by one or more veterans. The disability must be service-connected as determined by VA or DoD.
VetCert replaced VA’s CVE
Certification moved from VA’s Center for Verification and Evaluation to SBA’s Veteran Small Business Certification program, VetCert, on 1 January 2023. Self-certification no longer qualifies for SDVOSB set-asides. Apply free through MySBA Certifications.
What you get
Eligibility for SDVOSB set-asides and sole-source awards governmentwide, and priority in VA’s Veterans First program. The federal government has an annual goal for prime contract dollars to SDVOSBs, which gives contracting officers a reason to look for you.
Where to find SDVOSB contracts
Filter SAM.gov Contract Opportunities by the SDVOSB set-aside, watch VA forecasts and those of other agencies that buy in your NAICS codes, and check USASpending for which offices award to SDVOSBs in your line of work.
